To support a major expansion of the laboratory, we are currently recruiting several postdoctoral fellows with expertise in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology, as well as new graduate students through the Boston College PhD program in biology.
[edit] Postdoctoral Positions
Our primary interest is in computational scientists with a strong interest in biological / genomic research. Postdocs in the laboratory will be expected to lead the development of high-performance sequence data analysis software, and to participate in collaborative sequencing data analysis projects that drive tool development. They will work closely with data producers, experimental collaborators and colleagues at sequencing machine manufacturing companies.
A doctorate in science or engineering (e.g. Biology, Genetics, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering) is required. Candidates with strong, demonstrated software development expertise (especially C/C++) are preferred, but individuals who have experience with Bioinformatics programming using e.g. PERL or PYTHON will also be considered. Successful candidates will be joining researchers in a growing, vigorous Computational Biology program on the Boston College Campus (http://bioinformatics.bc.edu). [edit] PhD Program In Computational Biology
This laboratory is one of the participants of the newly forming Computational Biology Program at Boston College. The department has three computational faculty members, Peter Clote, Jeff Chuang, and Gabor Marth. Stephen Wicks and Marc Muskavitch are also active members of the CBP-BC program and their research applies advanced computational tools.
